Meet the Team
Meet our dedicated team of specialist counsellors, bringing together years of experience supporting individuals and families affected by cancer and life-limiting illness:-
Ruth - Integrative Counsellor
Hello, my name is Ruth and I am an experienced psychodynamic, relational and integrative counsellor. I offer specialist, trauma informed therapy, for children, adolescents, adults and couples impacted by cancer, serious or chronic illness, or who are bereaved or approaching the end of their life. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities, and I am sensitive to the unique challenges each person may face.
I am passionate about working with clients who face these life changing situations. I seek to create a confidential, supportive relationship within a safe, empathic space where you feel able to freely share your feelings about the impact of your life-changing experiences: on yourself and those you love.
I am committed to supporting you to share your experiences in your own way. For children and adolescents, sessions may include play or art-based therapy; for adults and couples’ sessions are typically conversational. There is no right or wrong way to share your experience, only what feels most healing for you.
I work sensitively and holistically to support you with compassion on your personal journey as we seek to better understand your life; the experiences and patterns that may be affecting you, the relationship issues that have arisen and fears that you may feel cannot be openly expressed. Together, we can explore how your experience affects every aspect of your life – mind, body, relationships and spirit.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.
I see clients face to face from a counselling room in Bath as well as offering online and telephone consultations across the UK. I am able to work in schools in the Bath area.
Jane - Art Psychotherapist
My name is Jane and I am a HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist.
This means sessions with me do not need to rely only on verbal expression. You may also choose to use art materials. This can be especially helpful when things feel too difficult or complicated to put into words. You don't have to have any special skills or artistic talent and the materials can be used in many ways that might not always result in an obvious finished artwork. Sometimes people choose not to use any art materials in my sessions or use them now and again. All of this is welcome; I am person centred and you get to choose how you use the sessions.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist which means I support people to think about how their past experiences and relationships have influenced their current behaviour or ways of thinking. This will always be at your own pace and centred around your needs.
I have a special interest and expertise in supporting people from the neuro- divergent community and strive to be open and accessible for all.
You can find lots of information about Art Psychotherapy here: if you have any questions at all, please feel free to get in touch or we can arrange an initial appointment to figure out whether I am the right therapist for you.
Rachel - Integrative Counsellor
Hi, my name is Rachel and I am an experienced humanistic and integrative counsellor, offering specialist, trauma informed therapy, to adults and couples impacted by cancer, serious or chronic illness, and bereavement.
The therapy relationship is at the heart of my work, and I am committed to providing a welcoming and safe holding space for you to gently explore, and make sense of your experience. Having supported many clients through serious illness, as well as pre and post bereavement, I know how vital it can be to have a safe place to share the impact of these life changing experiences, and to process all that this can mean to you as an individual, as well as to those closest to you.
My core training is in Integrative Counselling, which simply means that I make use of a range of therapy approaches and will tailor our work together specifically to meet your unique needs. My approach is holistic, working with you to include your thoughts and feelings, as well as your embodied experience, and your spiritual self.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework and I see clients face to face from dedicated counselling rooms in Shaftesbury, as well as offering online and telephone consultations across the UK.
Kateland - Integrative Counsellor and Breath-work Coach
My name is Kateland, and I offer compassionate, holistic support for emotional wellbeing. I work from a person-centred approach, meaning therapy is focused around you, your experiences, and what feels important to you. I believe in building a warm, supportive relationship where you feel heard and understood, while integrating other approaches to support emotional healing and wellbeing.
I believe that emotional experiences are held not only in the mind, but also within the body. Through gentle exploration of thoughts, feelings, breath, physical sensations, posture, and nervous system responses, therapy can support greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and healing.
I provide a safe, empathic, and confidential space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, without judgement or expectation. At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert of your own life, and that therapy should feel collaborative, compassionate, and deeply respectful of your individual journey.
I have a particular interest in trauma and the profound ways it can affect both the mind and body. My integrative approach allows me to support clients in understanding the impact of difficult experiences while helping to restore a sense of safety, connection, and resilience.
My aim is to provide a supportive therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and less alone during incredibly challenging times.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework and I offer face-to-face sessions from my dedicated garden office in Westbury, Wiltshire, as well as online counselling sessions for clients across the UK.
Effie - Integrative Counsellor
Hi, my name is Effie. I have over ten years’ experience working as a counsellor with a range of people and presentations. My framework is Person Centred; this is the belief that every person has within them an innate tendency towards growth and wellness. Sometimes this gets hidden or lost; distorted by pain, shame or lack of acceptance. The work of counselling is to rediscover our innermost core, so that we can live life to its fullest.
In counselling I create a space where growth and movement can take place. What this looks like in practice is warmth, acceptance and coming alongside you to truly understand what it’s like to be you. It is a collaborative relationship where we work together to look at the painful parts of life and find a way forwards.
It can be hard to put into words how we feel, so I sometimes use creative methods to aid with this, for example, paint, stones, or imagery and metaphor. I love being outdoors, and have undertaken training in taking therapy outdoors in the form of ‘walk and talk’ sessions. Some people find it easier to share when walking side by side, and that being in nature is in itself healing.
I also draw on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) both of which offer a more pragmatic and ‘hands on’ approach, with strategies and tools that we decide on together. It can work well with stress, panic, anxiety and low mood.
I have an abiding interest in what it means to be human and how we make our way through a life that can be full of challenge and pain. I have a longstanding commitment to working at depth with bereavement and loss, living with mortality and spiritual expression.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.
